5th Sunday. Lord’s Supper
A great reminder of the Gospel of Jesus Christ
BUT SUCH WERE SOME OF YOU
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (ESV)AND SUCH WERE SOME OF YOU
AREN’T YOU GLAD YOU ARE NOT WHO YOU USE TO BE!!!!
It is easy to give more attention to a specific sin in vv. 9-10, but they are all lumped together… LOST IS LOST
We are washed – a new life.
Titus 3:4–7 - [4] But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, [5] he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, [6] whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, [7] so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. (ESV)We are sanctified – Set apart. A new behavior
Set apart in salvation
Set apart for Christian living
Immediately, yet progressively
Ephesians 2:8 – For good works (His Glory & His Story)
We are justified – a new standing
Not guilty, Forgiven, CLOTHED WITH RIGHTEOUS
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Regeneration and Conversion
We are made new through repentance and faith.
Turn from. TO CHANGE. Change in our mind, emotions, actions
Turn to (faith, belief, trust) CHRIST
IT IS THE GOSPEL THAT HAS MADE US NEW. WE HAVE BEEN REDEEMED AND TRANSFORMED BY THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST.
It is so much more that our actions… it is about a relationship that transforms our actions.
1 John 3 9 No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God.Seed produces, grows.
1 Corinthians 5 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.New…IS NEW

Come to Him in repentance and faith.
Trust in Him
Live for Him
Follow after Him
