I. God’s Plan - Understanding the Calendar

II. God’s Purpose in Sending the Son -To fulfill two very important Days on the Jewish Calendar:

A. Passover (Pesach) B. The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur)

- Leviticus 16, High Priest makes the Sin Offering for himself and the nation, preparing one bull and two goats for a sacrifice.

The bull would be killed at the altar: 1. Incense (vv. 12-13) 2. Blood of the Bull (v. 14) 3. Blood of the Goat (vv. 15-17)

4. Altar Cleansed (vv. 18-19) 5. The Scapegoat (vv. 20-22) 6. A Day of Affliction of Souls (vv. 29-31)

III. God’s Plan and Purpose Perfected in Christ (Hebrews 9) A. Jesus, The High Priest, Offers Himself as the Lamb of God (vv. 11-15),

“Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood...” B. Without the shedding of Blood there is no remission (vv.16-22). C. It was NECESSARY - Christ appeared in the Presence of God for us (vv. 23-28).
