Chapters 6-7: The plea for repentance (Pardon)
The Lord, the Judge who scatters his people for their transgressions and sins, is also the Shepherd-King who in covenant faithfulness gathers, protects, and forgives them. [1]

God will judge disobedience/sinners
God will keep his covenant promises (their will be a remnant)
Blessings on those that will repent
The Coming of the Messiah – vv. 1-5a
The now – King Zedekiah – 2 Kings 25:1-7
The not yet – Jesus born in Bethlehem – Matthew 2:1-12
Whose coming forth is from old, from ancient days
He shall shepherd His people
The Victory of the Messiah – vv. 5b-15
He delivers – v. 5b-6
Then he will raise against them
He shall deliver us
He empowers – vv. 7-9
Then the remnant
Like the dew from the Lord
Among the nations, in the midst of many people
God will strengthen the people
Lion
Hand shall be lifted up over your adversaries
He ultimately conquers – vv. 10-15
I will cut off
Horses, chariots, cities
v. 15 – And in anger and wrath I will execute vengeance on the nations that did not obey.
