Pastor's Blog: Prayer is the Key

YOURS FOR JESUS’ SAKE … A WORD FROM BROTHER TOM ….

"Prayer is the Key"

God has called the church to “not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching,” (Heb. 10:25). In other words, the closer we come to the Day of Judgment the more important it is that we gather with the saints to worship the Lord and encourage one another. I am grateful for the privilege of gathering with you in worship each Sunday – our approach should be that we don’t have to go to church, we get to! [Yes, I know I mentioned this verse last week!]

Let’s all make every effort to be present for worship this coming Sunday. Bro. Mike Fuller will bring the Word this Sunday, September 22, and I know you will be encouraged in your walk with the Lord. Victoria and I will be on vacation next week and will be in the Lord’s house on Sunday, worshiping Jesus and praying for you!

On Wednesdays, we are doing a very important study on prayer. We are using the book, “How to Develop a Powerful Prayer Life,” by Dr. Gregory Frizzell. Prayer is the key to turning around our church – please join me for this great study. Brother Kenny will be teaching Lesson 3, based on Chapter 2 of the book. You can pick up a book from the church office if you need one.

I am convinced that prayer is the key to our success as a church. As we develop powerful and effective prayer lives, we can anticipate that God will be at work among us. Jesus spoke a parable encouraging us, “that men always ought to pray and not lose heart.” It’s easy to lose heart, and there are so many distractions. But pray we must.

I am so grateful for the ministry of our deacon body. They are working closely with me to grow our church spiritually and numerically. The deacons recently elected Brother Scott Bennett to serve as Chairman; Ronnie Griffin as Vice-Chairman; and Kyle Owenby as Secretary. Pray for our deacons!

Looking forward to hearing what God does at Tabernacle this coming Sunday. Please be present with your Bibles in hand as we worship the Lord together.

Blessings, YFJS, Bro Tom
