Pastor's Blog: Contentment

It was great to see so many of you at our drive-in service last Sunday. While the circumstances are not ideal it is a great way for us to worship together while we keep one another safe. Our audio for the live streaming portion of the service was much better. I am so grateful for Pastor Landon and Pastor Kenny who have worked tirelessly to get our online programing up and running so smoothly.

We completed our sermon series in the book of Philippians last Sunday as I preached on the subject “Learning Contentment.” These are tough days to be content, amen? But the Lord is sovereign, He has the whole world in His hands and He is fully aware of your situation. We can trust Him and we should. I really love this quote from David Jeremiah that I read in the message Sunday:

"Contentment can be ours in the place where God has stationed us. It is always the result of the power of God which strengthens us. It is usually bolstered by the people of God who support us, and it is guaranteed by the promise of God which sustains us."

Where to next is the question at hand and I am praying for the Lord’s direction in that regard. For the month of May, we will be preaching from some of my favorite passages and will look to start a new series in June.

When can we get back to in person worship at church?” Our plan is to be back in a limited, social-distancing format on June 7. We have developed a “Welcome Home” page on the website that will give the details. Please be patient and realize that the page represents current planning that is subject to change. We are having a great time with our Wednesday night prayer service live on Facebook at 7 pm. The Q & A on the Bible with Pastor Tom has been interesting, and I believe we are learning a lot.

Send your questions directly to my email account please, tom@terush.com. Please put in the subject line–TBC Q & A. Or go to our website: https://www.tbcmacon.com/question - there is a form you can fill out with your question and it will come to me.

MFL (Men Fearing the Lord) is meeting by Zoom on Sunday nights at 7 pm. If you have not received a Zoom invitation, send me an email requesting to be put on the invitation list. We are continuing our study of “Returning to Holiness” by Dr. Gregory Frizzell.

Some of you have asked about the message I did on Wednesday April 8, right before Easter, on the timeline of Holy Week events. I have worked together with my son, Nathan, and we have produced a paper on the subject, “Three Crosses, Two Sabbaths, One Empty Tomb.” In the article we answer some tough questions that many Christians have wondered about. Was Jesus crucified on Friday? What did Jesus’ prayer in the Garden refer to? Where did Jesus go after He was crucified? I believe you will find the article very helpful. You can read it here: https://www.tbcmacon.com/post/three-crosses-holy-week-timeline

Please remember that the church’s financial needs continue. Thank you for your faithfulness in this regard. You can mail your tithe check to the church (please use the new PO Box) or give online at: https://app.easytithe.com/App/Giving/tabe6611136.

As always, I am looking forward to what God will do at Tabernacle this coming Sunday. Remember to bring MOM, next Sunday is Mother’s Day! Please be present with your Bibles in hand as we worship the Lord together – from our cars, trucks, living rooms, dens, and other locations! Pray!

Blessings, YFJS, Bro. Tom
