Living the Blessed Life (Luke 11:27-28) - 1/7/24

INTRO

  • Luke 6:46-49, Luke 8:19-21

  • Where do we find true blessedness?

  • Why are so many believers living such a normal/typical life?

  • The importance of Hearing and Doing?

  • LIVING THE BLESSED LIFE

First things first

  • Fulfillment of Mary’s prophesy Luke 1:48

  • God’s glorious plan of redemption

  • He still has a plan!

BLESSED ARE THOSE

  • Possessing the favor of God

  • Not in things, but in favor. (His presence in our life)

  • Experiencing the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:16

  • Plentitude of divine perfections

HEAR THE WORD

  • To understand. To comprehend. To grasp with our mind

  • Put myself in the environment to hear

  • Daily in the Word. Sunday Mornings. Life of learning.

KEEP THE WORD

  • Observe. Take care not to violate

  • WHY DO WE OVER THIS

  • LIVING THE LIFE OF A DISCIPLE

James 1:22-25 – 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. 25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

  • More than just hearing and believing

  • WE MUST GO AND DO

  • We hear, and amen.

  • Then leave the service and immediately forget

  • NOT APPLYING WHAT WE HEAR INTO OUR LIFE

Matthew 7:24-2724 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

  • Both houses look fine.  Both hear and believe

  • One trusts in the truths.  One does.  One stands.

  • BELIEVES. APPLIES. LIVES. STANDS

John 14:2121 Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.”

  • IT IS A LOVE THING.  The more our love the more the desire to please.

  • If I truly do love Him, then I will obey/follow Him.
