God is Light. No darkness whatsoever. "Not a light, not the light, ..., but simply and absolutely God is light, in His very nature." (Vincent). This is not a metaphor. It represents the glory, truth, and holiness of God. God is light, love, and life. This is His nature or essence, He does not just give them, He is them.
