Family Devotional Guide - 9/19/21

In light of the September 19th sermon on proclaiming the gospel message through personal evangelism, let us consider how prayer is involved in the task of personal evangelism.

In his article, “Leading a Church to Be Evangelistic: Praying Evangelistically,” Dr. Chuck Lawless shares this prayer method from his friend Chris Schofield:

  • H – Pray for non-believers to have a receptive heart to the gospel.

  • E – Pray that their spiritual eyes will be opened.

  • A – Pray that they will have God’s attitude toward sin.

  • R – Pray that they will be released to believe.

  • T – Pray that their lives will be transformed.

Spend time this week discussing each of these points and considering the Scriptures below and discuss how they relate to praying for the salvation of others. Just as the apostle Paul had a sincere desire for the nation of Israel to be saved (Rom. 10:1), so should we have a sincere desire for those around us to be saved.

Verses for Further Consideration:

  • Romans 10:1

  • Ephesians 1:18-19

  • Matthew 6:10

Suggested Songs:

  • “Your Grace Is Enough” by Matt Maher

  • “His Mercy Is More” by Matt Boswell & Matt Papa

  • “Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)” by John Newton, Chris Tomlin & Louie Giglio
