Day 1
Scripture: Psalm 19
Discussion: This psalm speaks of two ways God reveals Himself. The first six verses speak of general revelation (basic things we know about God from nature, etc.). For example, from viewing creation we can discern that there is a Creator who is powerful, wise, etc., who is able to create everything. Special revelation refers to the specific ways God reveals Himself. Jesus Christ Himself was and is an example of special revelation, as are the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments. Discuss the difference between general revelation and special revelation. Why is special revelation particularly important (see Romans 10:14, ff.)?

Day 2
Scripture: Hebrews 4:12
Discussion: What does it mean for the Bible to be “living and active” and what does it mean for it to be “sharp”? Discuss the ways the Word of God discerns “the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

Day 3
Scripture: Matthew 4:4
Discussion: In this passage, Jesus counters a temptation of Satan to turn loaves into bread by telling Satan that the most important sustenance is not physical bread but the spiritual instruction from God Himself in the Bible. In what ways is the Word of God like bread? What is the significance of comparing the Bible to bread?
