Day 1
Scripture: Hebrews 4:12
Discussion: As we consider the nature of God’s Word from Hebrews 4:12, we see clearly that His Word is “living.” What does it mean for God’s Word to be alive? How might this impact how we read it? How does this reflect God’s character as the Author?
Song: “Living Hope” by Brian Johnson & Phil Wickham
Day 2
Scripture: Hebrews 4:12
Discussion: How is God’s word active? How is this different from “living”? How would you respond to someone who claims that the Bible is just “dead words” on a page? What other Scripture passages might you take them to when trying to prove that God’s Word is very much alive and active?
Song: “Wonderful Words of Life” by Philip P. Bliss
Day 3
Scripture: Hebrews 4:12
Discussion: This passage speaks of God’s word as being “sharper than any two-edged sword” after which the author of Hebrews describes the activity of the Bible. What is the Bible capable of accomplishing in our lives as we read it? What does this tell us of the nature of God’s Word? Spend some time praying that the Lord would cause His Word to pierce your heart, and make a commitment to read it more faithfully if you are not already.
Song: “O Great God” by Bob Kauflin
