Day 1
Scripture: Joshua 1:8-9
Discussion: In the sermon notes for August 1st, Joshua 1:8-9 is listed alongside point #1, “The Bible Presents a Success Formula for Life.” What is the context of this passage? What do you think is meant by the phrase “good success?” Discuss what “success” looks like from a biblical point of view. Also, consider how the command to “be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid nor be dismayed” connects to the idea of success.

Day 2
Scripture: Psalm 1
Discussion: This psalm teaches that “The Bible Promises a Sure Foundation for Life.” Discuss the ways that being Bible-centered in life leads to a life that has a sure foundation. What terms are used to describe the healthiness of the person who is grounded (see esp. v. 3)? What can we learn from the tree analogy?

Day 3
Scripture: James 1:21-22; 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Discussion: The two Scripture passages above are connected to point #3, “The Bible Provides for a Strong Finish in Life.” What are the keys to finishing strong (see esp. James 1:21-22)? Have you seen other believers, especially ministers, who did not finish well in their personal lives and ministry, especially in reference to moral failures (i.e. sin)? How did their sins affect others?
