Family Devotional Guide - 7/4/21

Day 1

  • Scripture: 2 Chronicles 7:12-22

  • Discussion: 2 Chronicles 7:14 is often quoted this time of year. While the original promise applied to the nation of Israel, the fact remains that a nation who collectively turns to the Lord will experience the practical blessings that come as a result of turning from sin. Were the citizens of our great nation to turn to the Lord and live godly lives, society would obviously improve. Discuss how the gospel saving many in our society might impact our nation. Spend some time praying for the Lord to do a mighty work in our nation.

  • Song: “God Bless America” by Irving Berlin

Day 2

  • Scripture: Proverbs 14:34

  • Discussion: What does Solomon mean in writing that “righteousness exalts a nation?” What righteousness is he referring to? Also, discuss how sin brings reproach. Pray for Christians in America to grow in holiness and for our society to recognize the importance of God’s moral law.

  • Song: “Cornerstone” by Edward Mote, Eric Lijero, Jonas Myrin, Reuben Morgan & William B. Bradbury

Day 3

  • Scripture: 1 Peter 2:9

  • Discussion: As we consider the privilege of being citizens of the United States of America during this Independence Day holiday, we are reminded that our ultimate citizenship is in Christ’s kingdom (we are “a holy nation, His own special people”). How does being good citizens of Christ’s kingdom impact our lives as American citizens? In what ways might we be better American citizens as a result of living a holy life as a citizen of Christ’s kingdom?

  • Song: “We Fall Down” by Chris Tomlin
