Day 1
Scripture: 1 John 1:4; 2:1-2; 5:11-13
Discussion: Today’s verses form the basis for the apostle John’s purposes in writing the epistle of 1 John. His reasons are: that we might have joy (1:4), that we might not sin (2:1-2), and that we might have assurance (5:11-13). As we enter into this series in 1 John, spend some time examining your life in reference to joy, sin and assurance. Pray that the Lord would increase your joy, help you forsake sin, and grant a deeper level of assurance.
