Family Devotional Guide - 5/12/24

Our current Family Devotional Guide series is an exploration of the 119th psalm.  This lengthy psalm is an acrostic psalm broken up into 22 stanzas, and we are covering one stanza each week. We pray this psalm, which focuses on the Word of God itself, will strengthen you in your walk with the Lord!

Day 1

  • Scripture: Psalm 119:9-11

  • Discussion: This stanza of Psalm 119 opens with a question worth considering: “How can a young man keep his way pure?” Why do you think the psalmist specifically addresses the “young man” with regard to purity? Why is it important to seek purity at a young age? What answers to that question do we find in verses 10-11? Discuss the importance of God’s Word in living a holy life.

  • Song: “Give Us Clean Hands” by Charlie Hall

Day 2

  • Scripture: Psalm 119:12-13

  • Discussion: What does the psalmist ask of the Lord in verse 12? What are statutes? Discuss how the Lord teaches us His statutes. Why is it important to recite God’s law verbally? How might reciting God’s commands help us to be aware of the need to obey God’s law?

  • Song: “Great Are You, Lord” by Jason Ingram, Leslie Jordan & David Leonard

Day 3

  • Scripture: Psalm 119:14-16

  • Discussion: The psalmist declares that He delights in “the way of your testimonies…as much as in all riches.” What does this tell us about the importance of following the way of the Lord to the psalmist? What promises does the psalmist make in verses 15-16?

  • Song: “You Are My All in All” by Dennis Jernigan
