Day 1
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 5:9-10
Discussion: In verse 9, we learn that Paul had written a separate personal letter to the church of Corinth prior to writing the biblical book of 1 Corinthians. So, in verses 9-10, he explains that he was not referring to distancing ourselves fully from sexually immoral unbelievers. With that in mind, discuss what it looks like on a practical level to maintain relationships with unbelievers, especially those who live particularly ungodly lives. How should believers walk that fine line of understanding that unbelievers will act like unbelievers without us endorsing their sins?

Day 2
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 5:11
Discussion: Paul is very clear that believers are not to associate with other professing believers who live flagrantly immoral lives. Why is this so? What does Paul mean by “not even to eat with such a one” and how does this connect to the subject of church discipline?

Day 3
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 5:12-13
Discussion: Why are we reluctant to judge those inside the church (v. 12)? Have you seen situations where churches have been negatively impacted by sweeping sin under the rug? What does it look like to “purge the evil person from among you” on a practical level?
