Day 1
Scripture: Daniel 6:18-20
Discussion: King Darius was tormented with an uneasy conscience (and probably conviction of sin) due to his command to throw Daniel in the pit of lions. He did not enjoy food or entertainment and instead experienced insomnia. In what ways did the Lord use guilt over his sin to instruct King Darius? In what ways is a guilty conscience a blessing? Discuss what it means to have a “seared conscience” (1 Tim. 4:2) that no longer experiences conviction over sin.

Day 2
Scripture: Daniel 6:21-22
Discussion: Daniel appeared to have no ill will toward King Darius. He addressed the king respectfully and assured the king that he had not wronged him. How was Daniel able to respond the way he did (and not lash out in anger at being unjustly punished)?

Day 3
Scripture: Daniel 6:23
Discussion: Daniel was delivered from the den of lions! We often take this story for granted since it is so familiar and a story many of us have known from childhood. However, it is remarkable story of deliverance. Talk about the many things that could have gone wrong during the course of the night. What specific Scriptures might Daniel have been reciting to himself to strengthen his faith in the Lord?
