Day 1
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:10
Discussion: Discuss the gravity of Paul’s instruction to be united and not permit divisions to happen in the life of the Church. Notice that Paul uses the word “appeal” and tells them he does so “by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Why do you think Paul is so insistent that they be united? Why is division so dangerous?

Day 2
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:11-16
Discussion: Paul has just finished his opening greeting & thanksgiving for the church, and he immediately mentions the reality of division. Division is a common danger for churches, particularly as believers can be tempted to line up behind certain personalities in the church (vv. 12-13). How do we combat division in the church? How can we make sure we’re seeking to follow the Lord Jesus Christ first and foremost?

Day 3
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:17
Discussion: What was Paul’s goal in ministry? How should this inform us as to the how and why of church work? What does Paul mean by the phrase “lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power?” How can we make sure the power of the cross is in full display in our church?
