Day 1
Scripture: Daniel 9:16
Discussion: This verse mentions the anger and fury of the Lord. The reality of God’s wrath is often denied or diminished in our time, even among certain Christian denominations. Others will say that God was only wrathful in the Old Testament. How would you prove that God is still justly angry against sin? Spend some time finding answers in the New Testament to show that the wrath of God is not just an Old Testament doctrine.

Day 2
Scripture: Daniel 9:17-18
Discussion: Here we see an appeal to God’s mercy. Even in light of God’s wrath seen in v. 16, we also know that God is willing and able to forgive. How does the reality of God’s wrath magnify the love and grace of God to an even greater degree? How does God show love, mercy, forgiveness and grace without minimizing sin?

Day 3
Scripture: Daniel 9:19
Discussion: This verse shows a sense of fervency and urgency. The NKJV opens with three sentences that end with exclamation points, emphasizing the intensity of this part of the prayer of confession. Would you describe your prayers as intense or fervent (cf. James 5:16)? If not, why not? Spend some time asking the Lord to help you pray with greater fervency.
